somepony(me) overreacted but thank you all

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 4, 2012, 7:07 AM

EDIT: thank you all who commented and put me on my right tracks again, I just don't know what to say honestly.... well, I may have ranted a little too far before but still... my nerves have calmed down, my head needs a vacum cleaner and I need to sleep

thank you for being here with me

*sigh* I don't usually write journals anymore, because I know nopony cares to read them

but today I need to just tell/write/talk about how I feel about... well,(whispers in an awkward way) my new style

it feels like I've been standing in the same place for far too long, I haven't progressed in drawing for... well I dunno how long(not to talk about my lack of ideas these last days)

so I thought that maybe a change in style would make everything better

fuck it didn't

I mean just look at this shit! right now I feel ashamed that I even had this idea
I know I shouldn't say that, but that's how I feel

I dunno, maybe I'm just too obssessed in pleasing my watchers instead of pleasing myself

*sigh* what do you ponies think?

  • Listening to: caravan palace
  • Watching: my little waifu(ponies)
  • Playing: skyrim
  • Drinking: premier cola

Just a new watcher, but I will lend my opinion anyway :P

Art is something personal and subjective. If you have an idea and *you* thinks its good, then its up to your audience to decide if *they* like it or if they see what you are doing. That being said, do not let others dictate what *you* want to create. In the end its you doing the work, the thinking and everything else, we are here to admire or reject but your opinion is something we should not have power over. If you like a piece you made and someone else doesn't, there is no harm done. Do what you want and what you enjoy (If you feel like playing Skyrim and taking a break from making anything for a time then that's OK, as long as you think it is :) ).

People who like your work will always look at your art critically and with an open mind, so no worries, we can wait for whenever you want to produce whatever you want under the circumstances you set.

You do that :) I only do things that grip me, and sometimes I don't even put them up on DA because they are for me, or for someone specific.

Do what YOU want to do. if you have an urge to draw something, do that, whether watchers like it or not.
You might lose a few, gain a few, but I'll be by your side the entire time.

I promise~

Pleasing watchers? Really? You are doing it wrong then. And I'm, not talking about requests or "100 watchers celebration art", thats' totally okay and good, I'm talking about the whole direction in general. This is wrong. You want people like you as your original art or you want fake followers that "praise" you because you trying to please them? I understand that DA is ore like social network now and you can play under such rules, but is this the thing you really want? Try to take a time and do some reflexing session on this question, try to form your own opinion.

If you want to know mine - do what YOU want. Draw as you want. Does not mean you should not listen to sane and useful advices and critique, but never fell for it blindly, try to make your own line and follow it. Remember, the most important thing for the artist is to be able to express himself on paper as he likes and wants.

Both are really good. I'm probably last person that should give advices when it comes to this, but do what you like, not what your watchers like. Follow your heart (great, now I sound like some movie cliché). They will come and go, but you will stay. You should do art to please yourself, to feel proud about it. From all the people I follow on deviartArt you are one of the best artists. Its not about how realistically those drawings looks like, its about the feeling you get from them. And what you did so far was superb. But remember experimentation is a good thing. It wont work out every time, but without it there wouldn't be any progress at all. If you don't like this new style just move on, keep trying something new. Eventually you will nail it and find something that will suits you, something you will love. The difference between good and bad artist is that one never gives up.

It's certainly something different, and honestly I do like it for the uniqueness factor. Points for you for that. Personally I think it's fun that one who likes to try a new style does something out of the ordinary, and what I say to you, is keep going for it :D I will gladly enjoy anything made by any artist, no matter how "awful" it looks.

Besides, of all the things you made, they are all gorgeous little works. But of course remixing your style is even more fun too~

it does look a bit odd, but it's not bad-looking

the more the artist enjoys his/her art, the more the watchers will, is my opinion :)
